当地时间3月18日，据一名知情人士向美联社证实，美国海军“杰拉尔德·R·福特”号航空母舰在发生“洗衣房火灾”后，将返航前往地中海进行维修和补给。知情人士透露，这艘美国海军最大、最先进的航空母舰将停靠在位于希腊克里特岛的海军基地，或欧洲另一处港口。
“福特”号航母目前正在红海海域，它的撤离意味着美军中央司令部将仅剩一艘航母“林肯”号用于支援针对伊朗(专题)的军事行动。
据军方官员透露，上周发生的“洗衣房火灾”导致“福特”号上100多张铺位无法使用，约200名水兵因吸入烟雾而接受医学检查。
