As an ESL teacher I am always asked “How can I improve my English more quickly?!” When we study languages it is important to remember that language is much more than just remembering words and grammatical rules. Language learning is an active process. That means it’s something you learn to do, not just something you learn about (like history or social studies).作為壹名ESL老師，很多學生經常問我“怎樣才能快速的提高英語”。在大家學習英語的過程中，要記得，學習語言最重要的不僅僅是要記住單詞和語法。學習語言是壹個循序漸進的過程，我們要不斷的學習來運用，而不是像學習歷史或者社會學光靠記與背。Some useful tips for making your language study more active are:在這裡，我有壹些小技巧可以幫助大家有效的學習和運用英語：1. Be vocal - Find a private place to study so you won’t feel shy, and say the words out loud whenever possible. This will help you to connect the idea with the sound and will give you lots of practice with pronunciation and rate of speech. Also try recording your voice using an audio recorder (you can get an app for your phone for this) and play it back to yourself so you can hear mistakes you are making. You may want to send recordings to your teacher occasionally so they can give you advice.多說： 如果不好意思和別人面對面的說英語，可以自己在房間裡壹個人練習，把要說的詞或句子大聲的說出來。這樣可以很快的讓自己熟悉英語的發聲規則和矯正發音。有時可以錄下自己說出的句子，然後反復的聽壹聽。這樣可以有效的為自己找出發音錯誤，以便及時改正。當然，你也可以把錄音給你的老師聽，讓老師幫助你改正發音。2. Be Playful - Find games or make challenges for yourself to make your learning more enjoyable. When studying vocabulary you can go to http://dynamo.dictionary.com and make word lists so that you can test yourself in a game format, or play games with hundreds of word lists already made for you. When reviewing grammar that you’ve learned in class, try to make funny example sentences about things in your own life to make the rules easier to remember. Also, always try to connect your language practice to images, objects, or motions; this will make them more real.讓學習英語變得有趣：壹些英語的游戲可以讓你的英語學習過程變得不再枯燥。當在學習單詞時，不妨試試這個網站http://dynamo.dictionary.com，在這個網站裡，你可以自己編輯自己的單詞列表，並且用游戲的方式來測驗你的學習進度，有些游戲還可以幫你學習新的單詞。當你在復習課堂上所學的語法時，可以試著舉壹些有意思的例句，這樣可以幫你有效和更簡單的記住語法。還有，當在學習語言的時候，要隨時盡可能的把詞或句子和壹些圖片或物體聯系到壹起，這樣會讓英語變得更真實和貼切。3. Be Interactive - Try to do some of your English learning with real people. Don’t let all your study time be spent at a desk or table with books and computers. Use the words and phrases that you are learning with any English speaker you can find. Talk to the cashier at the supermarket, talk to the person next to you on the sky train, talk to your classmates and teachers, talk to anyone who will listen. You may feel shy at first, but you’ll soon find that most people love to talk (especially about themselves, so ask questions!).
