美國康乃狄克州爆發重大校園槍擊血案前幾天，凶嫌亞當藍札（Adam Lanza）的母親南西（Nancy）告訴朋友，兒子的狀況“惡化”，說她“快要失去他了”。
英國《每日郵報（Daily Mail）》報導，這名消息人士說他和54歲的南西是康州新鎮（Newtown）1間酒吧的“酒友”，幾天前和南西聊天時聽到她這番話。
亞當藍札14日朝母親南西頭部開了數槍後，驅車前往桑迪胡克小學（Sandy Hool Elementary School）濫射，殺害20名兒童和6名成人。
這名酒友知道亞當有問題，南西提到兒子時，比較喜歡談長子萊恩（Ryan）的事情，鮮少提到亞當。
他也說，亞當有自殘傾向。
他告訴每日郵報：“南西目光垂下，看著玻璃杯說‘我不知道，我擔心我快要失去他了。’"
"她說狀況變得更糟。她沒辦法和他溝通。"
他說這不是南西第1次和他談到兒子的問題。
他提到，約1年前，"南西告訴我，亞當用打火機燒自己皮膚，燒自己的腳踝手臂之類的，好像想要感覺到些什麼"。
他說，南西本周稍早說的話似乎預示了這起悲劇。
“很奇怪，她從來沒有認真討論亞當的事，她主要都在講大兒子（萊恩）。我知道她還有個兒子，但她從來不會講太多他的事。”
“她看起來很困擾。她垂下目光盯著玻璃杯，緩慢地說話。”
“我問她有沒有找人看看亞當，她說她有。”
他說，南西平常是個快樂的女人，這番憂郁的對話很不像她的作風。
這名酒友說，這段談話被壹通電話打斷，他掛了電話之後兩人就換了話題。
他說南西是波士頓紅襪（Red Sox）的死忠球迷，會買季票去芬威球場（Fenway Park）看球，也是個熱愛打獵的鄉村女孩。
這名酒友知道南西“至少有數拾把”槍械，大多是大型步槍，但不知道有手槍。他說：“亞當9歲的時候學會開步槍。他們會去射擊練習場。”
他說，南西向來小心管理槍械。“南西是個負責任的擁槍者。她也教導兒子如何負責任地使用槍械，這很重要。”
他也說，南西和前夫的關系不好。“她不太談前夫的事，但我知道他們處得很不好，我想她離婚後從沒見過他。”
