學校介紹
滑鐵盧大學（University of Waterloo，簡稱UW）是壹所綜合性公立大學，位於加拿大安大略省（Ontario）滑鐵盧。學校於1957年由格裡•哈格博士和艾拉•灣•尼德爾斯共同創立。滑鐵盧大學位於加拿大最富庶的伍大湖區，安大略省的滑鐵盧市，距多倫多僅1小時車程，距尼亞加拉瀑布1.5小時車程。滑鐵盧市是壹個安全、友好、清潔的中等城市，為學生提供了壹個良好的學習，生活環境。
學校有很高的聲譽，特別是做為北美地區第壹個經認可建立數學系的大學，以及擁有世界上最大的合作辦學項目(co-operative education)。滑鐵盧大學共有六個學院，包括文學院、理學院、工程學院、數學院、環境學院、應用健康科學學院。學校共授予100多個本科學位專業，180多個碩士及博士學位專業。滑鐵盧大學以數學、電腦、工程科學等學科聞名，學校的代表隊曾多次獲得ACM 國際大學生程序設計競賽的冠軍。
滑鐵盧大學教學設施完善，科研設備先進，學術力量雄厚。設有北美唯壹壹所數學院，這也是全世界最大的數學和計算機的教育及研究中心。同時，在北美洲，該校是最早采用計算機教學的學府，而這所大學的計算機學科在整個北美洲也是極有名氣的，加拿大其他大學在計算機科學領域上難以望其項背。除此之外，滑鐵盧大學工程院擁有加拿大最好的軟件工程，電子工程及機械工程專業。
