Job Description:
As one of the most popular Chinese community public websites in North America,
www.vandaily.com is looking for an experienced, creative Editor to join our team.
Job duties include:- Manage a team of writers and is responsible for curating fresh, relevant, and informative content;
- Set WESTCA publication quality standards and establish goals and expectations;
- Review content and correct errors in spelling, grammar and syntax;
- Proofread and edit materials through the various stages from conceptualization to publication;
- Create, develop and edit daily content for WESTCA's website;
- Plan the contents of publications according to the publication's style, editorial policy, and publishing requirements;
- Direct and lead breaking news files on digital platforms, use audience data and news judgement to identify needs of our readership;
- Confer with management and editorial staff members regarding placement and emphasis of developing news stories;
- Provide other lead generating teams with editorial support as needed.
- Bachelor’s Degree Journalism, communications or editing or other related disciplines;
- Previous experience in writing, editorial management, copy editing, proofreading, and text publishing and distribution is preferred;
- Previous experience working in radio station, television station, news organization, agency or similar is highly desired.
- Superior oral and written communication skills with an innate attention to detail.
- Experience evaluating and advising on copyright issues in content while editing.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word,
- Knowledge and experience with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator is an asset.
